Languages Outreach
On Saturday we were pleased to host our first Languages outreach event and in addition, to welcome Mrs Sharples, Mrs Drew and Mrs Keyter from the Junior School who along with Miss Cossey, Mrs Liu and Mrs Kennett offered exciting workshops to girls in Years 2, 3, 4 and 5!
Our Junior staff ran a French immersion morning for year 2 and 3 girls which included planting seeds into plant pots as well as painting, all completely in French! As if managing lots of excited young visitors with soil, seeds and plants not enough, for the only guidance to be given being in French was an incredible achievement for all involved!
Our Senior languages department offered workshops in Spanish, German and Mandarin. With a stimulating game of the animal in German using fly swats (!) being just one of the fun activities our year 4 and 5 girls were equally enthused. With themed refreshments from the relevant countries such as Sangria and our visitors left with a smile and most certainly, an appetite for languages!
With huge thanks to our junior and senior helpers without whom these workshops could not run, you were all super role models and amazing ambassadors for RHS.
Artistic collaboration at the Royal High Junior School
Our Junior school organised a specialist Art workshop on Friday for talented artists in year 2 from local Bath primary schools. Supported by our staff the girls created large-scale outdoor animal sculptures and paintings in the grounds of our Junior School. Girls from Bathford, Newbridge, WASPs and Saltford came along to join in and the girls worked collaboratively in an imaginative way.
Organised by year 1 teacher and Art co-ordinator Miss Carlie Dent the opportunity was designed to complement the Royal High Junior School’s unique creative curriculum which has been recognised in its nomination for the Times Educational Supplement’s Independent School of the Year awards 2017.
It was a lovely occasion on a beautiful sunny evening, our visitors as well as our own year 2 girls had a thoroughly enjoyable time during the Art workshop whilst also making some new friends along the way!
Donation to Oakfield Care Home
We were proud to donate some CD's to Oakfield Care Home this week that we had as a result of Mr Bradbury's housekeeping prior to the Music School Development. As you can see they were gratefully received:
“Zoe your CDs are amazing! I have just returned from holiday to all of these and they really are wonderful and generous- such thanks to you. Residents have been grateful to pick their choices to keep which is a treat for them.
Thank you from us all.”
