Many congratulations to Clemmie Gallen, who has been selected to be part of the National Youth Musical Theatre Company. Competition for places is fierce and Clemmie was one of over 1,000 people to audition! She will be performing as part of the ensemble in a new Musical, "Super Hero", which will be touring this summer. She will start rehearsing for this over Easter, with a week’s residential in Kent. At the moment only a few performance venues have been announced, Bury St Edmunds on 20th May and Kingston on the 14th July, but we are hopeful that there will be some performances in the South West at some point.

Clemmie has always shown an interest in performing, displaying natural talent from an early age. Whilst at the Junior School she played the Wicked Witch Grizelda in the Year 3 pantomime, ‘The Frog Prince’ where she demonstrated her confidence in portraying the pantomime villain, as well as her fine singing voice, and she played The Cat in the Year 6 production of ‘HONK!’ with enormous style and impressive stage presence. Since joining the Royal High School, she has taken part in a number of performances, offering a fine vocal contribution to the Key Stage 3 showcase evening and performing the role of Oliver in this year’s school production of Lionel Bart’s classic. Whilst in Year 7, she was given the lead role in Bath Light Operatic Group’s production of ‘Annie’ at Bath Theatre Royal.

We are all very proud of Clemmie’s wonderful achievement in joining NYMT, but we are not at all surprised! We wish her a very happy rehearsal and performance period.
