Last week, the Year 7 tutors and I had the pleasure of taking Year 7 to ‘Kilve Court’ for our residential trip, where we climbed ropes, walked on the beach, explored Dunster Castle, and got muddy….some of us were very muddy… Alongside all of the activities, the most memorable parts of the trip for me were seeing the girls make new friends and work with different groups; celebrating new friends and supporting each other in the activities with acts of kindness and cheers of encouragement were apparent every day.
The evenings saw us orienteering around the site and then, on the second night, navigating through a nighttime maze. Year 7 did us all proud and rose to each challenge with determination and good humour. On top of this, we were spoilt with delicious food and it only rained when we were indoors having meal times!
On our return, the group was tasked with writing books which will be shared with the Prep school after half term and some reproduced to send out to our sister school in Cambodia. It was wonderful hearing the girls celebrate the qualities of compassion and creativity, communicate with each other and engage in critical thinking as they produced their books, ready to share with each other on Friday afternoon.
It was a wonderful week, and a pleasure to get to know the year group better as they each shone in different ways outside of our normal school day routines.
