The Music Department was delighted to welcome back Isobel Holly (Izzy Pinder) this week. Izzy is now in her 2nd year at the Royal Northern College of Music and came back to talk to Music Scholars and other interested musicians about life as a working musician. Izzy prepared a fascinating talk looking at all sorts of music-related career options and training courses as well as sharing her personal experience of the music industry. We enjoyed hearing about her musical life in Manchester, what it is like studying at a music conservatoire and how she is developing her career as a singer/songwriter. She then ran an inspiring workshop looking at starting points for songwriting. It was interesting to hear how Izzy approaches a new song idea and to see how she is continuing to grow as a musician. Her advice to students in making a success as a working musician: take every opportunity, be proactive and be reliable! Follow what Izzy is doing at www.isobelholly.com or on social media.
