On 14th May 2019, four students from Key Stage 3 Science club represented the school in the Salters’ Festival of Chemistry, run by the Salter’s Institute in partnership with Royal Society of Chemistry, at the University of Bath. The Royal High School team were Year 7 students Kopikha Kathirgamanathan, Kashuf Rehman, Apolonia Higgins and Catherine Ellis. They took part in a Salters’ challenge, carrying out many experiments to identify the missing element. Then there was a second challenge set by the university. After the team competitions, the girls were treated to a magic chemistry show by two professors of Chemistry. It was a great opportunity to carry out many procedures in a university laboratory and the girls represented the school admirably.
