I am absolutely delighted that Mrs Kate Reynolds has been appointed by GDST Trustees as the next Head of the Royal High School. This will be Mrs Reynolds’ second Headship following teaching roles in a number of schools and her experience gained as Head of Leweston School will be invaluable as she leads RHS forward.

Having started her professional life as a solicitor following the completion of her degree in Law from the University of Bristol, Mrs Reynolds changed career to become a teacher of English and Drama after completing a PGCE at Bath Spa University. I know that she is looking forward to returning to this beautiful city with which she is familiar with her husband Giles and her family.

Mr Briggs, Deputy Head Academic, will be Interim Head in the Autumn term and he will be fully supported by the Senior Leadership Team, the staff and GDST as he undertakes this role. Mrs Reynolds will take up post in January 2020 but she will be at RHS on a number of occasions in the coming months and there will be an opportunity for parents to meet her before the end of this term. I will circulate the date as soon as it is confirmed.

I am sure that you will join me in congratulating Mrs Reynolds and making her welcome as she undertakes her new role. I know that she is taking over an excellent school, one which I am very proud of and will be sad to say goodbye to when the time comes. I am confident that RHS will continue to go from strength to strength under her leadership.
