On Tuesday the History department held its first ever Historical Cake competition. This was keenly contested by Year 7 students and the standard of cakes was amazing. There were Motte and Bailey castles, Man on the Moon, a Pyramid, the Bayeux Tapestry, cavalry, and the Magna Carta (a wonderful scroll/swiss roll!) to name a few. It was almost impossible to select a winner but the beautiful ‘Domesday Book’ cake by Anastasia Slastikova was declared the overall winner, with Mabel Everett-Heath’s ‘Trench Cake’ runner up. Highly commended were Dulcie Whitaker’s ‘Bayeux Tapestry’ and Georgia Ives’ ‘Blue Planet 2’. Congratulations to all girls who took part. Money raised from selling the cakes will be going to charity.
